So this weekend we had perhaps the largest showing of volunteers in a single day, with about 60 people coming out at various times to show their support. There were a ton of first timers and that always makes us happy!
First and foremost a massive thank you goes out to Mary Jane from Mack Cycle, who through the help of Sheridan Lumber was able to donate a substantial amount of lumber that we put to good use. Next we have to give a big thank you to Robert Ruiz who was able to get us a backhoe and dump truck to move massive amounts of dirt to where we needed it. And last but not least Aaron from sidewalk Salads came out to support the trail builders by cooking some delicious pork.
But the biggest thank you goes out to all of the volunteers that donated their time and sweat to the trail work this weekend.
And now the progress report:
1. The new intermediate trail is about 80% done, we still have to put in quite a bit of work if we want to open this trail up for our anniversary in 4 weeks. If you are out on the trail please do not ride any of the new features as there are no entrances or exits to the technical stuff, we have blocked all access to these areas so please keep an eye out for people trying to do what they arent supposed to do.
2. Several other key spots around the park were also worked on, the optional line on Highway to Hell was fixed and reinforced with wood. Also one of the drops in Tom Sawyer was also given some TLC, an optional line was opened in order to help alleviate some of the erosion and brake drag that was causing the drop to fail. One section was also closed off as it was getting really sandy and loose, we will have to put in some extra work next weekend to get that area back up to par.
We will be out there again this coming Sunday at 9am, albeit without the pig in a box, so we hope to see as many of you as possible to get this trail done. Some of the planned work is to create about 3 or 4 berms as well as building some rock gardens. Very Zen!
One more question to wet your appetite, has anyone heard the term North Shore? Just wondering…
Here are some of the pictures from this pask weekends work.

What we have here, is, a failure, to communicate…
