Trails are now OPEN sunrise to sunset!!
We have been working hard the last few months to build new trails, made some modifications, and have some fun! The next stage in the extension to Stairway to Heaven is now complete, adding about an additional mile of singletrack. With narrow bridges, sharp banked turns, and large hills, this challenging trail is rated as Advanced. We opened the trail in February, as we celebrated the 4th anniversary of the Virginia Key Bicycle Club. Here are some photos of the process:
Tiles have been added to the berm of Yellow Brick Road
The Container has received a makeover! Sponsor’s names will be added to the side
The Virginia Key 50 mile race was held in June
We also had a Swap Meet where people traded their bike goods
Due to the restoration project, the entrance to the trails has been slightly modified
There is now a stand with bike tools and a pump located near the container
Also, please visit the Virginia Key Outdoor Center for bathrooms, bike wash, ice/water/food supplies, and kayak rental located before the parking lot on the way into the park!
Please join us every Sunday, or once a month during a Big Ass Maintenance Day, so we can quickly build this new trail, adding another mile and a half!!! Be the first to test out the features!
