It’s been a long time since the last post. There have been a lot of new additions to the trails and a good amount of news. So here goes.

The trail known as War Pigs has been ridden by a ton of people and so far the reviews are fantastic. Some work has been done behind the scenes and there are other additions throughout the trail, little things here and there have been fixed or added.

The last post here was about the trail fees. The club has been to meetings with the city and they have been very understanding of our needs as bikers, builders and trail users. Currently we are having a dialog with the city and will be working together to bring you guys more miles of trails, along with facilities to increase the value of the park.

New trail coming soon for families to enjoy!
A new trail is under construction that will link the existing trail head with about 2 miles of easy family oriented trails along Arthur Lamb Road(road entering the park). A big thank you goes out to a fellow volunteer who rather remain nameless for helping us make this trail possible with the donation of a front loader essential in cutting this trail. This trail will be a great alternative to riding into the park with the roadies and cars. It will also be a very nice family friendly wide trail. We are planning to have this trail opened up in the next month or so depending on the turnout of volunteers on Sundays. More news to come.

While speaking of new trail, we’re planning on adding about another mile and change of trail in another section of the park. We will be working with various groups including the city to make sure that we are laying down sustainable trails that will have the lowest amount of impact on the land. It will be a beautifully scenic green beginner trail but also challenging, flowy, while great for the expert training.
Trees, a long term plan is in the works to add some beauty to our trial system by having plantings of natives around the new sections of trails that we will be constructing. This will NOT be like what happened at Oleta, we are going to have BRAND NEW BARREN areas which will be used for new plantings. At this time no plans have been made to remove any existing trees. This will be a long term plan that may take anywhere from 1 to 3 years to tackle. The end results though should be a beautiful area representive of South Florida.
If you guys ride in the afternoons you may soon see a large number of dump trucks going into Vkey, this is a good thing. We will be diverting some of those trucks at some point in the future for a fantastic addition to the park we’ve been waiting for since opening. There’s a reason why you see stop signs at the end of the fast section of “Long and Winding Road” between the trails “Yellow Brick Road” and “Tom Sawyer” (red box in image below). It should redefine the park, while adding some of the most distinct trail mileage in South Florida. We will keep you updated as to when this process begins.
