Hello everyone! I hope all your new years resolutions is to ride more! There have many changes and additions to the trail over the last couple months.

Jersey’s are in! Time to renew your membership and start wearing the VKBC colors. Quantities are limited so order yours today. For $50, you can become a member and get the jersey at the same time. Use the Paypal link to make your donation, or talk to Frenchie at the trailhead on weekends. Sizes run small so if you are larger than a Male Medium, it would be best to wait until we get a new batch of sizes in as we will not have one that fits you. The new kids trail, Mary Jane, is open at the trailhead. On the weekends, make sure to stop by the tent and find Frenchie. He will time you for the best lap through this course. With tight turns and lots of trees, it’s tougher than it looks! The seesaw has been fixed and placed in a new location just outside of Highway to Hell. This one is so big that it takes a couple seconds before it starts to come down, so make sure to work on your trackstand skills before attempting it.
Over the last few weeks, the maintenance crew has been working hard to build a new trail. Currently, it is about a half mile extension coming after the turn into Stairway to Heaven (which is the advance trail once you are inside Wild Thing). You seriously can’t miss the huge wooden bidge. Watch out though, going down you will encounter a huge set of stairs, followed by some steep drops and large berms. Halfway through, you will find a climb that leads to the old opening for the jump section. That spot is now closed and only accessible via this trail. You will still be able to ride that hill down and choose to show off your jump skills, or stick to the right to ride smoothly over the hill. The trail clearly travels around the pit with some small bumps and berms, and then another steep drop. Coming up the next hill, watch out for some mud. To finish this new section, you will go under the stair bridge, and continue to the old climb. This new section is a fun rollercoaster, and plans are to make it about a half mile longer!
Calling all ladies!!! Did you know there is a new club of all female riders? The HARDTAIL HONIES is a diverse group of adventurous
chicks that rip the trails! This group is meant to create a sisterhood that supports all ladies that wish to take part in our sport. They have all levels, beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. They support even the newest/slowest riders and help them grow into the sport with plenty of laughs to go with your lumps and bumps! They ride all the local trails, but Virginia Key Mountain Bike Trails is where they call home! They have events, group rides, skill days, and more! Don’t have a bike yet? Don’t know where to start? Not to worry! Join the group on facebook and they will guide you along! The next event is their Birthday Bash and Kid’s Day on January 25th at 10am
