Virginia Key is home to one of South Florida's most unique trail systems — raw, winding singletrack just minutes from downtown Miami. Now it's race day. Four hours. Endless laps. One epic finish line.

4-Hour Format

Complete as many laps as possible in 4 hours. Solo riders battle alone; teams tag-team relay-style to maximize total laps.

Kids Race (Ages 6–11)

Boys and Girls 6–8 ride 1 lap. Boys and Girls 9–11 ride 2 laps. Every kid receives a participation medal.

9:15 AM

Racer Meeting

Pre-race briefing for all competitors. Safety, rules, and course overview. Don't be late.

9:30 AM

Main Race Start — Gun Time

Solo and team riders hit the trails. Four hours of glorious chaos begins now.

1:30 PM

Race Finish

Complete your lap before time expires — every lap counts toward your final result.

Top 3 in each category receive medals. Best Dressed prizes awarded. Celebration ensues.

For the Little Rippers

Kids Race

Bring the whole family. The kids race starts 1 hour before the main event and every child 3–11 goes home with a medal.

Ages 3–5 — Free Fun Ride

Bikes or push-bikes allowed. No training wheels. Parents may walk or ride alongside. No registration required.

Ages 6–8 — 1 Lap Race

Boys and Girls categories. $20 entry. All participants receive medals. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place announced.

Ages 9–11 — 2 Lap Race

Boys and Girls categories. $20 entry. A bigger challenge for the more experienced young riders.

Safety First

Designated volunteers sweep behind all kids to make sure every child finishes safe. For ages 6–11, parents must cheer from the sidelines — no riding along.

All proceeds go to the Virginia Key Bicycle Club to build & maintain the trails you're racing on.

Virginia Key's trails are built and maintained entirely by volunteers. This race is how the club funds new trail construction, repairs, and the long-term health of the trail system. When you race, you're investing in the future of MTB in Miami.

FAQ

What skill level do I need to enter?
Any level. There are Novice, Base, Sport, and Expert categories for both solo and team entries. If you've never raced before, the Novice or Base categories are the perfect starting point.
Can solo categories be combined?
Yes — solo categories may be combined if fewer than 3 riders are registered in a particular category. This ensures competitive fields and fair racing for everyone.
How does team registration work?
Team registration is a 2-step process. The team captain registers first, pays, and receives a confirmation email. That email contains a unique link for each team member to complete their own individual registration. Share the link with your crew.
What are the team category rules?
Sport teams may have no more than 1 Expert member. Base teams may have no more than 1 Sport member. Novice teams may have no more than 1 Base member. Category designation is based on the highest class you've raced in during the past 5 years.
Do kids need to register in advance?
Ages 6–11 require a $20 registration. Ages 3–5 ride free with no registration needed — just show up! All kids 3–11 receive a participation medal.
Is the dress code actually enforced?
It's not enforced — but it IS rewarded. Best Dressed individual and tent prizes are awarded on the podium. This is Magic City MTB Race. Bring the neon.
Where do race proceeds go?
100% of proceeds benefit the Virginia Key Bicycle Club, a nonprofit organization. All funds are used to build and maintain the Virginia Key Mountain Bike Trail system.
